I have to admit, at one time during my homeschooling journey, I used these stories for my own kids in their homeschooling, not just for reading practice, but also for their science and history topics. I found life was too busy to sit down with a full fledged curriculum and teach them science and history topics. I know I'm lazy right… LOL 🦥😅
But these stories like I have said in previous emails sparked conversation, helped them learn about different subjects in our world. And we would find topics that they were intrigued by and wanted to learn more. So, these stories also provided a launching pad for more learning in topics of interest to my kids.
Here is a recap of what my reading stories help you do:
keep the students interested in their reading
covers science and history topics and can be used for these subjects in homeschooling
launching pad for more research into the story topic because the student is interested to learn more.
Sparks conversation, in class, in your home around your dinner table, in your homeschool.
Works for students in brick and mortar schools to keep them practicing reading outside of school time (summer, breaks).
How do you think you will use these in your classroom? Personal life? Homeschool? I would love to hear your ideas and ways you think you might use them.
